As the result of a donation from Harold E. Mertz, The Community Chest maintains a fund that is currently dedicated to providing capital equipment reimbursement to local Port Washington non-profit organizations.
Recent grants from this fund have included:
- Assistance to Community Mainstreaming to help get equipment for their Sweet Comfort Bakery and Cafe.
- Financial support for the Children's Center new playground equipment.
- Contribution for the purchase a van for Twin Pines.
- Helping defray part of the cost of a new computer for Twin Pines.
- Financial support for facility improvement at the Parent Resource Center.
