The Community Chest of Port Washington invites all to participate in the annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run, to be held on August 7, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Town Dock. The event provides an opportunity to explore Manhasset Bay via kayak, with check points along the way to qualify for prizes.
The Kayak Run is a family event open to kayakers of all skill levels, with check points along the way to qualify for prizes. It’s not a race and all are welcome. This year’s course will be more than six miles but there is no requirement to complete it, you can kayak as much as you like.
The Kayak Run is limited to human powered kayaks of all sizes and shapes. Come bring your own kayak or rent a kayak at a special reduced rate from Atlantic Outfitters at 767-2215 to participate in this community event.
Application forms are available via the Community Chest web site or at Atlantic Outfitters and Twin Pines Food Co-op. The entry fee (donation to the Chest) is $25 ($35 if paid on August 7th) for adults and $5.00 for participants under age 21.
The proceeds from the Manhasset Bay Kayak run will benefit the Community Chest of Port Washington, a not-for-profit organization established more than sixty years ago to raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving people’s lives. Community Chest funds — your donations — support these charities’ programs in Port Washington, including services for senior citizens, children and teenagers, victims of domestic violence and others in need.
