The Community Chest of Port Washington

There are a number of reasons why residents of Port Washington should donate to our annual campaign and/or participate in our Planned Giving program.

• One gift to The Community Chest is shared across a large number of worthy Port Washington organizations.
• It is difficult for individual donors to keep abreast of the changing needs in our community and to determine where funds are currently most needed.
• The Community Chest is able to support certain organizations that have limited fund raising capability on their own.
• Our Budgets and Allocations Committee carefully reviews applications each year to determine those organizations most in need.
• It is more cost effective to raise funds through concerted community-wide drives than through individual campaigns.
• As the result of our low overhead and our effectiveness in raising money through our community events, a high percentage of a donation made through our Annual Campaign goes directly to our funded organizations.
• Our Mertz Building provides below market rentals to support other Port Washington non-profits organizations.
• Our many events, such as The Thanksgiving Day Run, The Kayak Run, and our Citizen of the Year event benefit the Port Washington Community.
• Our efforts increase the amount of services that can be provided by our supported organizations.
• We estimate that one in every four Port Washington residents receives services from our funded organizations.
• The Community Chest of Port Washington and our funded organizations improve the quality of life for all who live in Port Washington.
