73 KAYAKS PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL KAYAK RUN
With a beautiful warm sunny day, kids and adults in 73 kayaks turned out for the Community Chest of Port Washington held on August 8. The Kayak Run is a family event open to kayakers of all skill levels, with check points along the way to qualify for raffle prizes.
This year’s course was more than six miles, and had great participation from adults and kids of all ages. Kayakers received a raffle ticket for each of the 14 check-in points around the Manhasset Bay to qualify them one of the 25 raffle prizes donated by Atlantic Outfitters, West Marine, Toscanini Restaurant, Port Water Taxi, Kayakken and the Twin Pines Kayak Club.
The winner of the grand prize was Alan Bergman, winning a Kayak that was donated by Atlantic Outfitters.
The event was sponsored by Town of North Hempstead, Port Kayak Club, Atlantic Outfitters and the Community Chest.
